I don't remember the link by the account that explained why palemoon is now slower than firefox it has something to do with the javascript part.
Ultimately I then accepted having to pay the "fine" in slowness when using youtube. There is allegedly some work around but I did not manage to get it to work. The "not responding" notices are usually caused by some faulty javascript part. I have no idea why not but as I am no longer using palemoon this doesn't quite affect me. Another user even identified the javascript-code that causes palemoon to lag behind.
